Sometimes words can be too much or not enough. Both modalities offer a way to process life through sensation or silence.

I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, having received a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. I ground my practice in social constructivism, and I draw from a diverse range of interventions, from Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) and psychodynamic orientations. I have received training and supervision and continue to pursue training in several CBT and psychodynamic orientated interventions and structured therapy models to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I have worked with from all walks of life who have endured various challenges and have had different expectations out of therapy. I have worked with people who needed some short-term support, long-term support and everything in between. When working with clients who have never been to therapy before, one of my goals in our work is to explore their understandings of therapy and therapists. Regardless of how long we work together, I feel it is important for me to impart on all clients their level of comfort with their therapist should always be a priority.

Two principles also guide my work as a therapist. First, I see my clients as the expert of their life, and view my role within the therapy journey as levering my professional knowledge to your benefit. Second, recovery is rarely a linear process, and the unpredictable nature of life can influence it. I seek to normalize the complexity of life, encourage self-compassion, and affirm the glimmers of your strengths and resiliency that come up when talking about the past, and over the duration of our work. These principles are critical to the maintenance of a therapeutic alliance that is respectful of your intersecting identities, and safely invites you to make explicit any thoughts, emotions, and feelings that are critical to understanding how I can best be of help.

Growing up, I was privileged enough to be put into a lot of activities such as gymnastics, swimming, karate, piano and vocal lessons. I stuck to swimming and piano early into high school and realized I was not interested in pursuing them any further, but my love for sports and being active is what came of it. Now, I enjoy playing a variety of sports such as volleyball (court and beach), badminton, ultimate frisbee, Spikeball, and most recently, I have gotten into snowboarding. Maintaining an active lifestyle led me to pursue a career within the health care field, more specifically massage therapy. I have always had an affinity for holistic healing and have stayed curious as to how I might be able to better incorporate the principles of massage not just into my personal life, but also into the lives of others.

I graduated from the Massage Therapy Program at Humber College and I am eager to establish my practice by applying the invaluable lessons I have learned both personally and professionally. Prior to my studies at Humber, I obtained my BA in Psychology from York University.

My practice is focused on a collaborative approach by both massage therapist and client in order to achieve health goals, big and small, while still delivering quality care in a meaningful and impactful way.

These experiences have shown me the valuable healing and growth that happens in our relationships to one another and in community.

I am passionate about working alongside children, adolescents, and young people to support them in their journeys of self-discovery and mental, emotional wellbeing. Informed by my clinical, community, and lived experiences of mental health and trauma, my therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that we are experts in our own experiences and that effective therapeutic relationships must honour this truth. I believe that we all come to therapy with different strengths, expectations, and goals which must be respected and explored to best guide our work together.

There are times in life when we get caught in patterns that interfere with our ongoing progress, and some of these patterns may be initiated in childhood and infancy. Addressing these long-standing patterns within a safe, therapeutic context can be the basis for creating meaningful change.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one therapeutic method that can be used to help you to get around these problems in the present, and better regulate your thoughts and feelings. My approach to CBT is flexible and informed by a Solution-Focused perspective, where we explore your wants, needs, and choices to develop a plan of action that will facilitate change. This process can also be informed by connecting past experiences to current patterns of thoughts, behaviors and feelings.

I have a particular interest in development across the lifespan and have worked in the fields of psychology and research for the past 25 years. I am available to work with clients of all ages from adolescence and up.

Congratulations on taking the first (and often most difficult) step towards healing and building resiliency: seeking therapy and reaching out! My job is to support you as we work to understand your own unique patterns (thoughts, emotions, behaviours), and be your co-pilot in the process of creating a happier and healthier life. Together, we will process your life challenges, collaborate to gain coping skills and build perspective to help manage your experiences, and ultimately become the ‘best version’ of yourself. I am passionate about bringing authenticity to sessions, with lightheartedness while encouraging individual creativity.

I approach therapy with the belief that each individual has a unique way of understanding the world; our realities and brain development are the sum of our experiences. I am open-minded and culturally inclusive, pulling from different therapeutic frameworks depending on each client’s unique needs/issues, goals for therapy, and techniques that resonate.

My promise is to be present with you, providing a space that is open, empathetic, free of any judgment and safe for you to be who you are in this moment, as we work to build a trusting relationship where you feel seen, heard and understood. Through genuine collaboration, we can explore what therapy approaches might be best for you.

Hi, I’m Madison, but you can call me Maddy! I work with kids, teenagers, and young adults. Clients I work with often struggle with anxiety, feelings of depression, overwhelming thoughts and feelings and a lack of motivation to do the things they once enjoyed. I also work with people who have experienced one or more highly frightening or upsetting events that someone might label as trauma.

Together we can work towards achieving your wellness goals and restoring a sense of hope! I believe therapy should be tailored to what you want - so I try to be flexible to structure our sessions to work best for you! In therapy, my priority is creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere where we can better understand you and what’s been going on.

I am passionate about empowering kiddos, individuals, and families as they face various challenges and concerns. I value therapeutic models that view those I work with as strong and capable with a variety of strengths and skills that will be important as we work together! For example, use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which believes that our thoughts have a lot of influence on our feelings and behaviours. I also weave in parts of emotion-focused therapy, attachment theory, and solution-focused therapy. I prioritize a trauma-informed approach, as I believe trauma is often woven into individuals’ concerns and working sensitively with our traumas can help us heal and grow.

When working with kids I also use play therapy and lots of games! Therapy is a space to discuss big emotions and sometimes upsetting things, but I do all that I can to make sure our sessions together feel as comfortable, safe, and sometimes even as fun as possible!

When working together I will prioritize and centre our work together based on your values and goals, and for those who seek it, I also offer Christian Informed Therapy!

Thanks for reading through, if you’d like to know more or see if we would be a good fit please book a consultation!

After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University, I began my career in Accounting and Finance, however after 10 years in the industry I decided to change direction. I returned to school and completed a second undergraduate degree in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour from McMaster University. My undergraduate degree inspired me to pursue a Master of Social Work and to learn more about brain science and incorporate it into my work. I completed my Master of Social Work specializing in Children and Families at The University of Toronto.

I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, life changes, childhood trauma, attachment issues, grief, ADHD, parenting and family problems. For Couples work I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT was created by Sue Johnson and Les Greenberg over 30 years ago and research has shown it is effective. EFT helps couples through strengthening of their attachment bonds so that they feel safe and secure with their partner. EFT helps couples with their negative interaction patterns by de-escalating conflict, slowing things down and working with couples to help them express how they think and feel to each other. We will work together to resolve the relationship distress by deepening your understanding of what is going on underneath the surface for yourself and your partner and help you to connect in a respectful and loving manner.

My therapeutic practice is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Gottman Method, Family Systems Theory and Self Compassion. I believe in working from a client(s) centered and collaborative approach, which means you will drive the therapeutic process and I am here as a guide. I am also continuously taking courses to ensure I am able to offer clients a variety of therapeutic options. I believe it is important to be curious and non-judgmental and I have found that when clients feel heard and seen it begins the healing process. It would be my privilege to join you in your journey of healing and self-discovery.
